Special Leap Year Edition |
Herewith a once-in-four-years
edition that consists simply of links to three stories we think are worth your
time.
First, here’s
UK’s Guardian newspaper on the question of writers getting paid for
digital content – the main issue in the recent Hollywood strike – but in this
instance concentrating on those of us who write books. Check your latest
contract to see how it stacks up vis-à-vis the points made here.
Next, two stories on the
issue of what’s known as net neutrality. One from the
NY Times and one from the
Washington Post.
As we’ve said before, net
neutrality is a big issue for those of us who write books, because active and
attractive web sites are such a critical part of our marketing efforts for our
work. And you can bet they will be at the slowest end of the train if the ISPs
are allowed to make the kinds of changes discussed here.
